About the Author

Marilyn Huntman Giese traveled with her camera to archaeological sites throughout the Near and Middle East tracing the roots of Christianity. When the World Changed, A Revolutionary Peace is a product of those travels.

Marilyn's writing began with poetry. While raising five children, putting thoughts on paper brought experiences of joy to life in a way that she could not express verbally. With the joy, came a desire for the deeper meaning of life. She began reading and meditating on the Bible while her children napped. Jesus became real to her and the Way of the early Christians brought a bright light of hope across the dark world of the Old Testament. She developed a passion for writing the Christian story as a historical novel. In the process she traveled to Rome, Greece, Israel and Turkey looking for the places that spawned the revolution in human thought that changed the world. The photographs from her travels became the basis for her book When the World Changed, A Revolutionary Peace.

While the author boasts of presenting rare photos of frescoes from the Dark Church in Cappadocia, children are more interested in modern photos of ancient Biblical locations. Several of them have looked through the book and said with awe, "Is that really Bethlehem?" Not originally written as a children's book, When the World Changed, A Revolutionary Peace opens the eyes of young and old alike to the splendor and reality of Jerusalem, Samaria, the Mount of Olives, Nazareth, the Sea of Galilee and other sites in Israel, as well as to art work created by early Christians across the Near East to express their faith.

"I am sure that many people will find this a moving and helpful book, and will savor and reflect on the illustrations."

--Dr. Martin Forward, Executive Director, Aurora University Center for Faith and Action.

"By showing modern tourists in some of the pictures you imply the ongoing power of this great message. And I like the oxymoronic sub-title, A Revolutionary Peace--yes, but not through force of arms.

--Richard Eastman, Professor Emeritus, North Central College
